- This project is still under development. The video below is PicoCTF 2014, just for reference.
Our team CryptoKnight from CMU, is developing a game for PicoCTF, the largest hacking competition in the world. Morover, it is a pioneer of competition gamification. Participants will read and answer competition question as a part of gameplay.
The competition aims at performing education in entertainment. It is not only a competition, but also a platform where students are exposed to the attractions of computer science, where they can have fun exploring the computer science world, which they may regard as unattainable before this. It also tries to show people that "hacking" is not necessarily a bad thing. Hacking skills can be used to help poeple, help improve the world in a thousand ways. It is just important to see kindness in it.
Our team CryptoKnight is working tightly with the competition helder Cylab (Security and Privacy Institute, CMU) and competition question provider PPP (Plaid Parliament of Pwning, CMU). In tha past two month (January, February 2018), we got to understand our objects and limitations through deep conversations with our clients, made detailed design plans for them and have implemented much.
I am the major gameplay programmer and the sound designer in this project. For now, I am in charge of two scenes out of the three we have built. I implemented player control, NPC behavior, story processing and sound control in the game. I also work on some detail polishing through our iterations, such as the scanning light effect and fade out effects on scene switching.
